Description

The BMW R5 was a sporty two-cylinder motorcycle in the 500cc class of the German manufacturer BMW , the 1936 newly developed came on the market and up to the 1950s was a landmark for the motorcycle BMW.

The R5 was introduced in 1936 with a completely new design of frame, with arc welded joints and oval sectional tubes. The new 494cc flat twin motor featured the small air filters on the carburetors, affectionally known as ''ears'' and the reversed foot gear shift with adjustable linkeage.
