In rainy Bilbao, in the north of Spain, old and new building styles mix to offer a very special contrast. In the foregraound, we can see St. Joseph Church (Iglesia de San Jose), and in the background we can see the skyscraper Iberdrola Tower.
The tower was built in Abandoibarra, a former industrial zone located next to the river that is being renewed since the early 1990s and where other emblematic projects, such as Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and Euskalduna Conference Centre and Concert Hall, are located. There are two residential buildings designed by Carles Ferrater flanking the skyscraper. The entrance to the tower is located at the Euskadi Plaza.
